As part of the National Office's ongoing implementation of the GrowthZone platform, we have moved the CFUW Club Action Newsletter from MailChimp to being distributed through GrowthZone.
If the newsletter looks a little different formatting wise, this is why!
We recognize there will be some growing pains associated with this change and we appreciate your patience as we adapt to the new system.

Post-Election Communications

CFUW congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party for their victory in the 2025 federal election.
On April 30th, CFUW National President Linda Sestock sent a message of congratulations to the Prime Minister. In the letter, CFUW urged Prime Minister Carney to reinstate the position of Minister for Women and Gender Equality when forming his new cabinet. Read the full letter here.
We encourage Clubs to also send a letter to their newly-elected MPs to congratulate them and familiarize them with your Club. For Clubs and individuals located in a Liberal riding, we encourage you to raise the issue of a Minister for Women and Gender Equality with them too. We’ve created the following downloadable template letters to support these efforts:
All letters are also available on the Member’s Drive here.

Introducing the CFUW Member’s Drive Guide
|
The CFUW National Office is pleased to share a new PDF guide designed to help CFUW members easily navigate the Member’s Drive.
This guide includes:
- An overview of what’s in the Member’s Drive
- Direct links to the full drive and key folders
- Instructions on how to request access
- A breakdown of the main folders and subfolders
- Tips on how to download documents and bookmark the drive
To make navigation even easier, the Table of Contents on page 2 is clickable, allowing you to jump directly to the section you need without reading the entire document.
We recommend downloading the guide and keeping it handy for quick reference. You’ll find it on the homepage of the Member’s Drive alongside a Word document that further breaks down each folder, similar to a site map. It will also be available in the Club Resources folder.
If you notice anything missing or unclear, please contact Mabinty Toure, the Admin Assistant at adminassistant@cfuw-fcfdu.ca.

From the Indigenous Support Sub Committee:
We would like to share some upcoming days that members might want to consider recognizing. Maybe participate in a community event already planned like a walk or a powwow, plan a program with a community speaker(s) or feature one of a number of books, in your book club. Even gather and watch a National Film Board documentary or film – Indigenous Cinema.
You can check out many resources on the CFUW website here. And share your event! We’d love to hear your stories, and see photos of what you did to honour these special days.
Red Dress Day, 2025
On May 5, 2025, we recognize Red Dress Day, a National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S). This day is an important opportunity to honour the lives lost, support their families, and commit to actions that address systemic violence.
The day is marked by people hanging red dresses from trees, windows, fences and balconies. Dangling limply on hangers without women to wear them, the dresses are visual reminders of the thousands of missing Indigenous people in Canada. The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, in its 2019 report, said the crisis constitutes a genocide of Indigenous people. “Indigenous women are 12 times more likely to be murdered or go missing than other women in Canada, and 16 times more likely to be killed or disappear than white women,” according to a Globe story that referred to the public inquiry. “The report cited research from Statistics Canada showing Indigenous women and girls accounted for almost a quarter of female homicide victims between 2001 and 2015,” though they represent only 5 per cent of women in Canada.

June 2025
People in Canada celebrate National Indigenous History Month every June and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. These are great opportunities to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples, to learn about their histories, cultures and ways of life. Many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year. Now might be a good time to start thinking of what you and your Club might do to celebrate this special time –

Resolutions: Proposers and Amenders Workshop

Thank you to Clubs who have sent in amendments to the 2025 Proposed Resolutions. The Proposers of each resolution are working on revising their resolutions based on the amendments. The revised resolutions will be published in a Special Newsletter on May 23, 2025. Clubs are requested to review the revised resolutions, as there may be significant changes that may affect your support at the Policy Session.
You are invited to the May 29th 2pm ET Proposers and Amenders Workshop, where Proposers will explain to Amenders and other Club members why specific amendments were or were not accepted, and will respond to questions and comments. Register for the Workshop here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/dcbincyMQHWlR4p63WiWCA

GWI continues its Triennial planning from Geneva, as Zambia awaits our arrival, and the members of Graduate Women Lusaka plan our welcome!
CFUW’s International Relations Committee and sub-committee have been planning CFUW’s involvement in the September 11-13, 2025 Triennial by submitting resolutions modified for the global scene, offering constitutional amendments and suggesting agenda items for the General Assembly where new global policy will be decided. As many across the country head to the polls today, it's a timely moment to reflect—not just on politics, but on the values we carry in our workplaces everyday.
Whether it's a ballot box or a boardroom, moments like this remind us that differences are inevitable. But division doesn't have to be. In workplaces especially, how we engage across those differences can either build trust—or break it.
