  • Dr.Lisa Young : Professor of Political Science at the University of Calgary

Lisa Young is a long-time observer of Alberta politics. In addition to her academic research, she has written about Alberta politics for Alberta Views magazine, The Tyee and The Conversation Canada, and on her substack “What Now? An Alberta Politics Newsletter” (lisayoung.substack.com).  She recently presented at the July 2nd  Canadian Unity: Where Do Things Stand? event hosted by the Association for Canadian Studies and the Metropolis Institute.

  • Don Padget : Constitutional Lawyer, Edmonton

Don Padget advised the Alberta government on constitutional law and conducted constitutional litigation for over 13 years. He was part of Alberta's team on the Supreme Court of Canada reference about the constitutional amending formulas applicable to Senate Reform proposals. He has also worked for the Federal Department of Justice and in private practice. He has been active in human rights, civil litigation, administrative, and indigenous law, and, for many years, was a board President of the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, an indigenous social service agency, in Edmonton.
